A TikToker caught a hotel employee rummaging through his private property and it’s truly a nightmare.
Arthur Brunello (@arturbo86) installed the iSentry security system on his laptop before leaving his hotel room. The app has motion sensors and starts recording with your laptop’s camera when it detects motion nearby. It then emails you to let you know if it found anything.
For Brunello, it was quite a trap.
In some truly chilling footage shared on TikTok, Brunello found a hotel housekeeper rummaging through her belongings and methodically inspecting the room.
I realize that I may have felt like I was creating a paranormal activity situation but honestly it’s worse. Ghosts can’t steal your wallet and commit identity theft!
In the video, a man can be seen opening Brunello’s drawers, rummaging through his closet, inspecting his backpack and – get this – opening his hotel-provided safe!!!!
He also helps himself to a beer from the fridge, which is kind of hilarious.
We don’t know what the man was looking for. However, Brunello said hotel reviews mentioned the theft despite no one having proof.
Fortunately, the only thing the man took was the beer. But we know that these things don’t always end so well.
Brunello took a moment to warn others when traveling. Set up security or take your valuables with you!
“I set it up to upload to Dropbox, so I could check in while I was away from the play,” he said.
“Be careful when traveling.
“It was my first time setting up a camera and I caught this… It’s alarming to me.”
He did not name the hotel or its location, however, as he said they had done a great job of handling the situation.
“We reported it to the hotel and they took care of us very well afterwards,” he said.
“Be careful and use technology to your advantage.”
Yes, consider me warned. Never leave valuables in my room again!
