Swainson appointed Director of Hotel Services

Bermuda Council of Hospitals Today Today [Jan 4] announced the appointment of Bermudan Jerome Swainson as Director of Hotel Services, effective today. The position is responsible for environmental services (housekeeping), food services and laundry at the Bermuda Hospitals Board. Mr. Swainson will report to Chief Operating Officer (KEMH), Susan Labus.

Mr. Swainson’s experience spans hotel operations, restaurants and guest relations. He joins BHB from Tucker’s Point Hotel and Spa Hotel, where he was Assistant Manager / Guest Services Manager, responsible for day-to-day front desk operations. Mr. Swainson’s previous experience also includes eight years at Fairmont Southampton Bermuda as Director of Resort Operations, three years as Director of Guest Services at Canadian Pacific Fairmont Southampton, two years as General Manager at Kids and Other Services and fourteen years as Deputy General Manager at the Mid-Ocean Club.

Ms. Labus comments: “I am extremely happy to welcome Mr. Swainson to the Bermuda Hospitals Board. Our hotel services are such an important part of the patient experience in hospitals. It may not be a clinical service, but from the food you eat to the cleanliness of your room and your linens, they touch every patient and visitor to our facility. This is an area we have focused on based on patient feedback, and it is essential that we do it right in order to achieve our vision of being the first choice for health and wellness. Mr. Swainson is a highly skilled and welcome addition to the team.

Mr. Swainson attended Warwick Academy and Acadia University. His qualifications include graduation from the American Hotel & Motel Association and a Certified Food & Beverage Executive designation. He is a retired Bermuda Regiment Company Commander (Captain) with extensive training at the Royal Military Academy, Sandehurst and Warminster, The School of Infantry.
