Peter Kay: Paddy McGuinness says hotel staff thought they were a couple | Celebrity News | Show biz & TV

TV star Paddy McGuinness, 48, shared how hotel staff believed he and Peter Kay, 48, were a couple. The duo starred side-by-side in Max and Paddy’s Road To Nowhere, but before appearing on television together, the former used to follow the Car Share star’s early tours as a way to get advice on the comedy.

However, since they initially barely made any money on the comedy scene, they were often forced to share a hotel room with each other, as well as the same bed.

The star has now recalled that after telling the front desk of an unnamed hotel that they didn’t mind sharing a room, they received weird stares.

Paddy said: “Skip the awkward pause and the ‘they must be gay’ looks before you get the key. “

Later in their careers, Paddy and Peter quickly found themselves in yet another embarrassing hotel situation.

The two actors had been engaged in the following jobs in London.

But what they didn’t know was that they had adjoining rooms.

After realizing their predicament, the Wallace and Gromit actor walked into the Top Gear star’s bedroom completely naked, before his bedroom door closed and locked him up.

Wanting to rectify the situation as quickly as possible, Paddy also reminded The Sun how he was forced to come down to the reception to ask if the star could be reintroduced to his room.

It was announced in September 2020 that the latter, Phil Tufnell and Matt Dawson would not be returning on the show.

The new series features Paddy as the host with former hockey player Sam Quek and Ugo Monye of Strictly Come Dancing as the captains.

Earlier this year, Peter teased his return to television after a three-year hiatus.

In his first public performance since 2018, the star took to the stage in Manchester where he blurted out fans that he and Paddy had written two Christmas specials for the Channel 4 comedy, Max and Paddy.
