The management and staff of the Kigali Marriott Hotel joined Rwandans in commemorating the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

On Tuesday, April 19, they visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center. The tour aimed to help hotel employees understand how the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi was executed to exterminate over a million lives in just 100 days.

They laid wreaths at the memorial before being ushered into its auditorium for further discussion.

The presentations and performances given at the rally indicated the intensity of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Matthias Widor, the general manager of the Kigali Marriott hotel expressed his regrets on what happened in Rwanda.

He said: “It is very depressing to hear of this tragic story, but as a Marriott hotel our message is; Never again should this be our mantra in Rwanda and all over the world.

That is why we join forces to pay tribute and recognize the courage of genocide survivors to rebuild the nation, he added.

Widor hailed the RPF Inkotanyi leadership which stopped the genocide and built the most important pillar – unity and reconciliation – through the leadership of President Paul Kagame.

He then urged all Marriott employees to embrace unity as a nation-building virtue and demonstrate it at work, in schools, in families and in society at large.
