Lucknow hotel fire: joint investigation report held accountable by LDA and fire services

Lucknow: A high-level committee formed to investigate the Levana Hotel fire which claimed the lives of four people, has submitted its report to the state government.

According to sources close to the ANI news agency, the report mentioned negligence as the cause of the fire and singled out six departments, including the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA). The Lucknow Electricity Supply Authority (LESA), District Administration, Fire Services, Lucknow Municipal Corporation and Excise Department were responsible for the incident.

The report further adds that a meeting was held between Lucknow Division Commissioner and Lucknow Police Commissioner and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath before submitting the joint report.

The names of the officers believed to be responsible for the incident have been named in the report and strict action is demanded towards LDA and fire service officers.

The report further includes the names of other illegally built hotels in Lucknow. The report also highlighted and suggested actions against hotels that did not follow the guidelines.

Meanwhile, the Lucknow administration ordered to seal and demolish the administration. Lucknow Police had previously arrested the general manager and owners of the hotel.
