Central team inspects city facilities for hosting G-20 summit


Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A central government team on Thursday inspected available facilities in the city to explore the possibility of holding a meeting of ministers from G-20 countries.
India will assume the chairmanship of the G20 group in December 2022 and the G20 summit is expected to be held in India in 2023.
“It would be a matter of pride for Indore, which has won the cleanest city award five times in a row, to host it,” collector Manish Singh said.
Praveen Jakhar, OSD, Summit Division, Central Government, Rohit Sharma, an officer from Protocol Division, Naveen Saxena, Consultant, Summit Division held a meeting with senior administrative and police officials at Brilliant Convention Center in this regard.
Central government officials inquired about available facilities such as hotels, auditoriums, air connectivity, etc. and asked if the city could host such a mega summit. The core team appeared happy with the facilities, an official said.
The G-20 includes Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, France, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Africa South, South Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States of America and European Union.
